Payment Options

Check your payment deadlines

You must pay your tuition and fees in your MyNAIT portal by the payment deadline, or have other funding in place by this date. If you are a student in Continuing Education, Open Studies or Apprenticeship, this deadline doesn't apply to you. Your fees are due when you enrol. Some forms of payment can take several days to process.

Please allow time for your payment to be processed before the payment deadline. You must be enrolled in your courses before your tuition amounts will be calculated.

Need to pay your tuition right now?

Some payment methods take longer to process than others - don't risk missing your tuition and fees deadline. If you need to pay tuition and fees quickly, please consider one of the following immediate payment options: credit card or Visa or Mastercard debit.

You can pay your fees directly in your MyNAIT portal. Find out what you owe and when your payments are due:

  • Login to your MyNAIT portal
  • Open Self Service, select Financial Account
  • Select Charge Details/Make a Payment to find out how much you owe and when it's due

Log in to MyNAIT

Check your MyNAIT portal to ensure your payment is received. If you don't see it within the processing time noted below, contact PayMyTuition for assistance.

Foundational Learning Assistance

If you have been approved for funding through the Foundational Learning Assistance program (formerly Alberta Works) for ESL or Academic Upgrading, you must scan and email it to Financial Aid. Once received, a Sponsorship Indicator will be added to your account. Please note that emailed submissions can take up to 5 business days to process.

Academic Upgrading students must inform NAIT of funding before the tuition deadline to avoid being dropped from classes. If your application has not been approved by the deadline, you must be prepared to pay the tuition and will be reimbursed when approval letter is submitted.

It can take several weeks for NAIT to apply funding from Foundational Learning Assistance to your account. Until funding is applied, your account will show an overdue charge. This is normal and will not have a negative impact on you as long as your Sponsorship Code is applied.

Follow these steps to access your funding details:

  • Log in to MyNAIT
  • Click on Self Service and select Tasks (you may also find this on the homepage of MyNAIT)
  • Review Holds & Funding
  • Click on Sponsorship Code to find the code for the upcoming term

Degree, Diploma and Certificate Students

If you're applying for full-time funding through Alberta Student Aid

NAIT will begin to confirm registration with Alberta Student Aid 30 days before your program start date. The confirmation of registration process will create a Sponsorship Code for your NAIT account. You should be able to view the Sponsorship Code via your MyNAIT portal 2 business days before the tuition payment deadline of each term.

You will receive an e-letter in your MyNAIT portal with further information once the student loan or approved funding confirmation has been completed.

Once your loan has been confirmed, you can view your anticipated Alberta Student Aid funding

  • Login to your MyNAIT Portal.
  • Under Self Service, Financial Account, select Charges Due in the menu.
  • Pending Financial Aid should be noted.

If all the information above is correct and all of your fees are covered by the amount listed in your Sponsorship Code, please do not pay. Any refunds for overpayment will take at least 6 to 8 weeks to process after NAIT has received your student aid payments.

It takes several weeks for NAIT to receive and apply the funds from Alberta Student Aid to your account. Until then, your account will show this amount as an overdue charge. This is normal and will not have a negative impact on you as long as your Sponsorship Code is correct.

If you do not see a Sponsorship Code 2 business days before the tuition payment deadline or if you have any questions about the information in your Sponsorship Code, please contact us.

If you're applying for part-time funding through Alberta Student Aid

If your part-time Alberta Student Aid application has been approved, NAIT will receive your part-time loan certificate directly from the government. Once received, we will remit the funding if the amount will cover all of the tuition and fees owing. A Sponsorship Code will be added to your NAIT account. If the approved amount of your loan is less than the amount you owe for the term, all of the funding will go directly to you and you will be required to pay all of the outstanding tuition and fees  by the tuition deadline.

*The Certificate of Eligibility is a 4-page carbon copy form that Alberta Student Aid will mail to you once your funding application has been approved.

You can view the Sponsorship Code on your MyNAIT Portal

  • Login to your MyNAIT Portal
  • Select Open Self Service, select Financial Account
  • Click Fees & Payments
  • Select Holds & Funding in the menu
  • Click on the Sponsorship Code for the appropriate term (for example: Winter 2018), and confirm the following information:
    • Start Term: You should see the upcoming term (for example: Winter 2018).
    • Reason: You should see “Student Loan Funding”
    • Amount: The amount listed is the amount that NAIT will be receiving from Alberta Student Aid to pay for your tuition and fees. This amount should match the amount you currently owe for the term.

If all of your fees are covered by the amount listed in your Sponsorship Code, please do not make any payments on your account. Refunds for overpayment will take 6 to 8 weeks to process.

If you're applying for funding through Out-of-Province Student Aid

Once your funding application has been approved, please submit your funding approval letter to NAIT before the tuition payment deadline in one of the following ways

  • Bring a copy to the Student Service Centre on Main Campus
  • Email financialaid@nait.ca, including your NAIT student ID number. (Please note: It may take up to 10 business days to process requests submitted via email during peak periods such as August and December.)

This information can be found on your MyNAIT Portal

  • Login to your MyNAIT Portal
  • Select Open Self Service, select Financial Account
  • Click Fees & Payments
  • Select Holds & Funding in the menu
  • Click on the Sponsorship Code for the appropriate term (for example: Winter 2018), and confirm the following information:

    • Reason: You should see “Student Loan Funding”
    • Amount: The amount listed is the amount that NAIT will be receiving from Alberta Student Aid to pay for your tuition and fees. This amount should match the amount you currently owe for the term.

Apprentices

Student aid and grant funding is remitted directly to apprentices. Full payment must be made to NAIT at the  time of registration regardless of the status of the student aid or grant status.

If you're applying for full-time funding through Canada Apprentice Loan

The funding will need to be remitted directly to the apprentice (you!). You are responsible for making full payment to NAIT at the time of registration.

If you're applying for full-time funding through Alberta Student Aid

If you are planning to pay for your tuition with Alberta Student Aid, you will need to have applied and been approved prior to registering for classes. If you have been approved for Alberta Student Aid, your tuition fees can be paid directly to NAIT. To have your account noted for funding prior to registration, you will need to contact the Student Service Centre to let them know you have approved Alberta Student Aid so the note can be added to your file. Once noted, you can register in classes without making payment.

It takes several weeks from the start of classes for NAIT to receive and apply the funds from Alberta Student Aid to your account. Until then, your account will show this amount as an overdue charge. This is normal and will not have a negative impact on you as long as your account is noted.

If you do not have approved Alberta Student Aid and/or have not contacted NAIT to inform them, you will be responsible for making the full payment at the time of registration.
