The IICC is a safe and welcoming space for all students. We offer programs and activities to foster connection amongst people and create a sense of belonging across diverse groups.
International Peer Mentor Program
Students who are new to studying in Canada can signup as mentees and join the International Peer Groups to meet other peers. The groups are led by International Peer Mentors who are senior students at NAIT. The mentors will share their NAIT and Edmonton experience with mentees and provide support for their cultural transition.
International Engagement Events
NAIT offers a variety of fun student events through the year to support international and newcomer students in building community as they transition to NAIT and to Canada.
The IICC offers workshops for staff and students that build intercultural competence and an understanding and appreciation for equity, diversity and inclusion.
Visit the IICC OoksLife page for details about upcoming learning opportunities.
Connection and Outreach
The IICC connects students to NAIT services to support their success based on their unique needs. We also support international students in their cultural and social transition to Canada and to NAIT.
The Newcomer Booster is a 2-week program that prepares international and newcomer students to start their studies at NAIT. Participants will build confidence, connections and increased readiness to start a new academic program at NAIT through online workshops, forum discussions, activities and video chats.
