NAIT meets the current and emerging needs for polytechnic education and applied research in Alberta. To support our polytechnic in achieving its vision we have the following organizational structure.
NAIT has been a self-governing institution since the Government of Alberta transferred governance of the Institute to the NAIT Board of Governors in 1982.
Laura Jo Gunter became NAIT’s seventh President and CEO on August 24, 2020. An innovative leader, she brings extensive post-secondary knowledge and an entrepreneurial spirit to her role.
Peter Leclaire joined NAIT as Vice-President Academic in March 2022.
Daryl Silzer joined NAIT as Vice-President External Relations and Chief Development Officer in November 2024.
Mike High joined NAIT as Vice-President Administration and Chief Financial Officer in January 2025.
Clayton Davis joined NAIT in 2005 and has served in various senior administrator roles.
Tim Cartmell joined NAIT as Vice-President Major Projects in July 2026.
NAIT’s Academic Council makes recommendations to the Board of Governors about academic policy related to student admissions, courses and programs, academic awards, and other academic matters.
