Disasters impact communities differently, and effective emergency management must account for diverse needs and contexts. This course examines disaster and emergency management through the lens of prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery, with a focus on communities often overlooked in traditional approaches. Participants will explore disaster recovery frameworks, analyze historical case studies, and assess the challenges faced by Indigenous, rural, and marginalized populations. Through discussions and applied analysis, they will analyze strategies to support equitable and effective disaster response efforts.
