Clean Fuel Operations

On January 22, 2024, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced a cap on study permit applications for international students. NAIT is actively engaged with government to fully understand the details and impacts to our international students and applicants. To see the latest updates as information emerges, view our FAQs.

The clean fuel operations program will introduce learners to clean fuels – with an emphasis on hydrogen, renewable diesel, renewable natural gas, biofuels, and sustainable aviation fuel - and provide an overview of the energy industry. Learners will be equipped with the skills and competencies to safely produce, store, transport, and deliver clean fuels, and learn about carbon capture and conversion technologies, lifecycle assessment, carbon accounting, and energy regulations in Alberta and North America.

On completion of the program, students will walk away with the following:

  • Job-ready skills in low carbon fuel production, storage, and transportation through field-based practical learning.

  • Certifications in safety, dangerous goods transportation, carbon accounting, lifecycle assessment, carbon capture, conversion, and storage.

  • Practical skills and job-site leadership in project management, operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting upstream production processes.

  • Soft skills in critical thinking, emotional & cultural intelligence, workplace equity, diversity, inclusion, and allyship.
