The Computer Network Administrator (CNA) program provides students with the fundamental knowledge and hands-on technical skills required to be successful in today’s information technology world. The CNA program teaches students foundational technology skills, core knowledge areas, and strategies for being successful. Students get specialized training with up-to-date applied technology.

Depending on your career goals, you may also obtain vendor certifications including CompTIA's A+, Network+, Linux+, Microsoft and Cisco after completing the Computer Network Administrator program. This will require additional studying after completing the Computer Network Administrator program.

Opportunities for further education

The CNA program is designed to give you the skills necessary to gain employment upon graduation. Should you wish to pursue additional education you may do so in the Network Engineering Technology (2 year diploma), Cybersecurity (post-diploma certificate), Bachelor of Applied Information Systems Technology: Network Management (applied degree) or Bachelor of Technology (degree) programs. Entry into these programs may require an additional year of post-secondary education or bridging courses.

CNA pathways

Advanced Credit

You may apply for advanced credit once you have been accepted into the program. Advanced credit can be Transfer Credit (for completed post-secondary courses) or PLAR (Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition).

Transfer Credit

In addition to the common guidelines outlined on the Transfer and Credit Options section and on the Transfer Credit Request Form (PDF), your program has other advanced credit requirements that are applied to each request including:

  • You must have completed the course or program no more than 5 year(s) ago unless a formalized articulation agreement is in place
  • You must have a minimum mark of B- in the course(s) or program
