What happens if I take the diploma program but do not complete my diploma within three years, or don’t meet the GPA entrance requirements for BTech?

You must complete your diploma program within three years and meet the GPA entrance requirement for the BTech program in order to be eligible for this pathway and for the BTech Scholars Award. To stay on track, it’s important to seek academic support early. NAIT offers resources like tutoring and academic advising to help students succeed.

Once I have started my diploma program, what happens if I decide to not pursue the BTech degree?

You are not required to continue into the BTech program after completing your diploma program. You will still receive your diploma credential upon completing your program, which will provide you with valuable skills and qualifications for entering the workforce in your chosen field.

However, if you do not continue into the BTech program, you should be aware that you will not be eligible for the BTech Scholars Award or eligible to apply for a PGWP.

I am a former NAIT international student who graduated from one of the listed diplomas. Am I eligible for the BTech pathway?

The BTech Scholars Award is only available to international students who begin one of the eligible diploma programs in Fall 2025 or later, and then continue into BTech.

If you are a graduate of one of these NAIT diploma programs, you are still welcome to apply for admission to the BTech program to continue your studies and prepare for a future in management.

I am in or graduated from a similar technology diploma program. Can I apply for this BTech pathway?

If you are in or have graduated from a similar program, you are welcome to apply to the BTech program directly, however your application will not be considered as part of this pathway and you will not be eligible for the BTech Scholars Award.

How does the $10,000 BTech Scholars Award get disbursed over the two years of the BTech program?

As long as you remain enrolled in the BTech program, you will receive $5000 in your first year of the program, and another $5000 in your second year.

Can I take a NAIT diploma not listed above and still ladder into BTech?

Yes. Many of NAIT's technology diploma programs ladder into the BTech degree. Visit the BTech entrance requirements for more information.

Please note that the $10,000 BTech Scholars Award is only available to international students who take one of the eligible diploma program listed above in Fall 2025 or later and are accepted into the BTech program.
