Support for Ukrainian Students
We know many in the NAIT community are affected by the ongoing events in Ukraine. NAIT is offering a variety of supports for Ukrainian applicants and students affected by the war, including holders of the Canada-Ukraine (CUAET) emergency travel visa.
CUAET & Ukrainian students
For the Winter 2023 term, NAIT will waive the international differential fees for Ukrainian international students who have fled Ukraine through the Canada-Ukraine authorization for emergency travel (CUAET). This means eligible students would pay the same tuition rates as a Canadian citizen for this term.
The Office of the Registrar has reached out to international students with Ukrainian citizenship to offer this support.
For international applicants with Ukrainian citizenship applying for Fall 2022 and Winter 2023 terms, NAIT will:
- Refund the application fee ($115) and expedite applications for admission in 2022-2023
- Simplify documentation requirements or find alternate ways to meet this requirement if you are unable to access and provide official documents or transcripts.
- Offer deferrals to the next available intake if you need to postpone your intended start date due to the conflict in Ukraine. To understand your options and discuss your eligibility, submit an inquiry select topic: “How to Apply to NAIT, Entrance Requirements, and Application Questions”, and subcategory: “Can I defer my admission to a future intake?” prior to the enrolment deadline for the term you are starting your program.
- Waive the tuition deposit requirement if you receive an offer of admission and are facing financial hardship due to the war. To use this financial support please email email@example.com with the subject Ukrainian Application.
Finances may be a significant barrier for Ukrainian applicants and students at this time. NAIT has payment plan options for students who require additional time to pay fees and may provide emergency bursaries to current Ukrainian students facing financial hardship. For more information on emergency bursaries or payment plans, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Counselling services at NAIT are free and confidential and are available to support your mental health and well-being.
Supports for other students
NAIT has supports available for any students who have been affected by war, displacement, natural disaster, etc. Students affected by these types of situations can book an appointment with an International Advisor to understand supports available.
If you need help accessing these resources, please contact the Student Service Centre to answer questions or connect you with other support services.
