These are program delivery modes currently being offered:
We will continue to make course delivery decisions based on careful considerations about how we can safely deliver your courses, while providing you with an exceptional learning experience.
Each course location and delivery method will be listed in your MyNAIT Portal Self Service.
In your MyNAIT Portal Self Service, select the class section to view the class delivery method under the Enrolment Information tab, in Class Notes. You can view more details by selecting the Class Details tab.
If you have third party funding and require a confirmation of enrolment, you can request one through your MyNAIT portal after your schedule is built (select Open Self Service > Manage Classes > Confirmation of Enrolment). If you need a letter prior to your enrolment completion due to a funding deadline, you can request a letter by submitting an online Contact Form, select tile: Current Course/Program > Transcripts, Parchments, Letters > Official Letter Request.
If you intend to take your studies part-time or have student funding from another province other than Alberta, please email financialaid@nait.ca to understand how this impacts how you apply for student funding.
Yes, your schedule and courses may change leading up to the start date of the class. We will try to limit schedule changes but there may be instances where course changes are necessary, for example a change of instructor may cause a course to change. As you continue to prepare, we recommend that you continue to frequently check your schedule in your MyNAIT portal.
Dropping a class from your schedule before the drop deadline will remove the class and all associated fees from your student record. Drop deadlines vary depending on your class. To view your deadlines for each class, go to your MyNAIT portal and select Open Self Service > Manage Classes > View Classes, click the Enrolment Deadlines button to find your final date to withdraw without penalty.
Dropping a class after the deadline is a withdrawal and is permanently maintained on your academic record.
Whether you're a new student or returning student, this means your program will enrol you in your courses for the term. So you don't need to worry about class enrolment. Once your program completes your class enrolment, you will receive an email confirmation.
Check your My Program view in your MyNAIT portal to check your program's course enrolment method (eg. program-enrolment). Your enrolment method may be subject to change.
Once your program completes your class enrolment, typically 3-4 weeks after enrolment opens, you will receive an email confirmation stating that you have been enrolled in your classes. Then you will be able to view your class schedule in your MyNAIT Portal.
To view your schedule in your MyNAIT Portal, select Open Self Service, choose Manage Classes, select View my Classes.
If you plan to take a reduced course load, please do not drop your courses without first consulting with your program area. Please reach out to your program office before making any changes to your schedule, or if you have questions about your class schedule. Your program's contact information can be found on the homepage of your MyNAIT Portal.
Whether you're a new student or returning student, this means you are responsible for selecting and enrolling in your classes. Before enrolment opens, you will receive an e-letter in your MyNAIT Portal with your enrolment date, time, and instructions on how to enrol. As course sections can fill up quickly, we recommend you enrol in your classes once enrolment opens.
You can prepare for your enrolment date by reviewing the Self Service Guide on your MyNAIT portal for enrolment options and step-by-step guides on how to enrol in your classes.
Typically, course enrolment is scheduled for early summer. Once enrolment dates are finalized, they will be posted on the Academic Schedule.
Your enrolment e-letter in your MyNAIT portal will include instructions for how to enrol.
There are a variety of options for how you can enrol in your courses in your MyNAIT portal, including:
For more information on course enrolment, please refer to your enrolment e-letter and the Self Service Guide section of your MyNAIT portal.
You can view the common enrolment errors within the Manage Classes section in MyNAIT Self Service. This list includes what the error means and what to do to correct it.
As a newly accepted Academic Upgrading student, it may take up to 72 hours after you pay your tuition deposit before you can enrol in classes. Please allow for this time if you are receiving an error when you try to choose your courses.
If you are unable to enrol after this timeline, please contact continuingeducation@nait.ca
Please also be aware that each upgrading course will require course-specific prerequisite(s) before enrolments can be completed. Be sure to review the course description to understand which prerequisites are required for each course.
The course enrolment deadline is the same as the tuition payment deadline. You must both enrol in your classes and pay your outstanding tuition and fees before this deadline.
Your admission may be cancelled if you fail to enrol by the enrolment deadline.
For some classes, there may be a waitlist available. If you’re using the Schedule Planner, you can include waitlisted classes in your search by changing the 'Course Status' filter to include classes that are full but have a waitlist open.
Whether or not a waitlist is available, we recommend that you frequently review the available course offerings on your MyNAIT portal. If a new class section is added, you will not automatically be enrolled from a waiting list for a different section.
If courses you need to complete your program are full, or if you have questions about alternative courses that may be transferable to complete your schedule, please contact your program directly. Your program's contact is listed on the homepage of your MyNAIT portal.
Except for our Academic Upgrading and ESL programs, you do not need to apply to get started. If you would like to join us for courses, you can enrol yourself through our website and complete your fee payment by VISA/MasterCard credit or debit card.
Credit cards, debit, and pre-authorized debit payments are immediate transactions. If you are paying via e-transfer or bill payment, please notify Continuing Education once payment has been made as the e-transfer and bill payment methods can take several days for payment to appear on your account. Failure to notify our office may result in you being dropped for non-payment.
You can proceed to the course page and select “Add to Cart” beside the course dates of your choice. You will complete your payment once you are signed into your account. A video walkthrough of this process is available at www.nait.ca/register
Visit the ESL application page for details on how to register.

This can vary depending on the course or program. Some courses may have specific registration deadlines, which will be noted under View Course Information.
Space is limited, and our courses can fill up well before the scheduled start date. For best results, we recommend enrolling as soon as you are able. If the Add to Cart button is available on the website, you are welcome to enrol.
You may have begun and not finished the checkout process in the last 24 hours. The course is on your MyNAIT portal waiting for secure online payment to confirm your seat in the class.
Please log in to your MyNAIT portal complete online payment through Self Service.
If a course you wish to take says Add to Waitlist instead of Add to Cart, that means that there are no open seats for registration for that section.
You can add yourself to the waitlist at no charge for a chance to be enrolled if space becomes available. If you are enrolled from the waitlist, you will receive an email notice advising you to visit your student portal to make a payment.
Where possible, we recommend enrolling yourself in a different section with available space to ensure you can still complete the course even if you are not enrolled from the waitlist into your preferred section.
Yes, you do need a NAIT student account to sign up for Continuing Education classes.
If you are new to NAIT, we recommend creating a NAIT account on the MyNAIT portal. When you are asked for a NAIT ID number, leave the space blank if you have not attended or applied to NAIT before, and our system will generate a new Student ID for you.
Once your account has been made, you can search for a course and add it to your cart. You will complete your payment once you are signed into your account with your new username and password. More details including a video walkthrough of this process is available at www.nait.ca/register
You can expect to receive communication from your program office before the class start date. Please contact your program office if you have additional questions.

Waiting lists open as soon as that class is full. You can add your name to the waitlist through your MyTradesecrets account.
If you are on a waitlist for an apprenticeship class, we encourage you to:
If a spot becomes available, all waitlisted students will receive an email notification at approximately 9 p.m. MST. The available spot(s) is filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. The email will direct you to complete an assigned activity guide in your MyNAIT portal. The message will also outline how to set up your MyNAIT portal account, if it isn’t already set up. Remember, you will need to complete payment immediately after enrolling in the class; if you do not pay, you will be dropped and the spot will become available to another waiting student.
If the spot is no longer available by the time you try to enrol, you will receive an email notification within an hour of the spot being filled. If you happen to access the Activity Guide in your MyNAIT portal when the seat has already been filled, you will no longer have the option to enrol in the class.
You can remove yourself from the waitlist through your MyTradeSecrets account at any point. If your name remains on the waitlist, you will continue to receive email notifications when a spot is available.
Your attendance at orientation on your first day of class is mandatory. These orientation sessions are designed to help you get the most from your learning at NAIT. Failure to attend will result in cancellation of you enrolment and replacement of your seat from the waitlist. There will be no refund of tuition.
Typically, course enrolment for open studies courses will open in mid-summer.
When enrolment dates are finalized, they will be posted to NAIT's Academic Schedule.
We encourage you to browse your program's course-list to see which courses are offered in Open Studies. Each program determines which of their courses will be available, and not all NAIT courses are available for open studies. Once enrolment opens in late July, you will be able to see course availability when you add your courses.
We recommend you review all entrance requirements to ensure you meet them.
Course enrolment is completed on a first-come, first-served basis, so course availability can change quickly. If your preferred section is full, you may need to pick a new section. We also recommend that you frequently review the available course offerings as new sections may be added throughout the summer.
Certain courses offer the option of joining a waitlist. By adding your name to the waitlist, you will be automatically registered and notified via email if a spot opens up. However, the system will not enroll you if you have a conflicting schedule with another class or if you are already registered in a different section of the same course.

The statement about Windows vs. Mac is for classes that are taught on computers running Windows.
The instructor will be using a Windows operating system for these courses and will not be able to allocate instructional time navigating or troubleshooting differences between Mac/Windows OS.
Some students are comfortable doing that type of troubleshooting themselves, but there may also be software compatibility concerns for your individual course and the instructor will not able to provide direct technical support should you choose to proceed against the program’s recommendation.
