Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation extends partnership with NAIT through 2023-24

Published on December 20, 2021

The Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation has signed a three-year pledge with NAIT to provide student athletes in the polytechnic’s men’s and women’s hockey programs with scholarships that will support students to succeed on and off the ice.

“Scholarships like this support our student athletes and allows them to maintain their busy schedule of academics and athletics,” began Jordan Richey, Manager of Athletics Administration at NAIT. “NAIT greatly appreciates the ongoing contributions of the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation, and we thank them for their generosity.”

The Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation will also provide the Rod Phillips Sports Broadcasting Scholarship for a student in the Radio and Television program. This scholarship, named after the long-time play-by-play voice of the Edmonton Oilers, Rod Phillips, is available to a second-year student enrolled in Radio and Television at NAIT. It will be awarded based on excellence in academic achievement and is intended for a student with a passion for sports broadcasting.

Both scholarships will run until the 2023-24 season.

“The Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation is proud to support students and their desire to continue their hockey career while pursuing a post-secondary education,” said Natalie Minckler, Executive Director of the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation.

“The EOCF has been providing students at NAIT scholarship opportunities since 2000, and we look forward to continuing this partnership.”

NAIT looks forward to this continuing partnership, and past winners have had a chance to thank the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation
