Students meet industry reps in oil and gas sector

EDMONTON – NAIT students will get an up-close look at the equipment and players in the oil and gas industry tomorrow at the polytechnic’s 14th annual Industry Day.

More than 25 companies will be on hand, talking directly to students in Petroleum Engineering Technology and Chemical Engineering Technology about career options in the field. They’ll be showcasing the latest technologies in fracking, pipelines and bitumen upgrading. Students will hear success stories from Canadian companies thriving in Alberta’s oil and gas industry and hear the latest about the TransMountain pipeline project.

Doug Lammie, assistant deputy minister, Alberta Energy, and Brad Hayes, outreach director for the Canadian Society for Unconventional Resources, will be among the speakers. Both will be sharing industry and government perspectives on the future of oil and gas in the province.

The day will include displays of outdoor oil and gas equipment, technical presentations and a mixer for students and industry reps.

WHEN:             Thursday, Sept. 26, 2019

                        8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (large outdoor equipment displays run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.)
