Gift from Melton family and Melcor Developments officially opens home to expanded Crane and Hoisting program

EDMONTON – The new Melton Crane and Hoisting Building was unveiled this week at NAIT’s Spruce Grove Campus, officially opening the 1,170 square metre (12,600 square-foot) facility.

The campus is home to three crane simulators, three mobile crane and three boom trucks, and has allowed NAIT to increase capacity in its Crane and Hoisting program by 80 per cent, to accommodate more than 430 students each year.

Melcor Developments, which developed the site and building, along with the Melton family, has donated $1 million to support construction and building technology programs at NAIT.

The Campus is located on 54 hectares (134 acres) of land, which provides the flexibility to accommodate other NAIT programs in the future that are suited to an industrial location.
