Darlene Crowell joined the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) as interim Vice-President, External Relations in March 2021, with accountability for marketing, communications and advancement.
Ms. Crowell’s 30-year career has spanned both the public and private sectors. Prior to joining NAIT, Ms. Crowell served as Vice-President, Market Communications and Engagement with Energy Efficiency Alberta and previously as Associate Vice-President, Strategic Communications with the University of Calgary. She has spent the majority of her career in the energy industry, including nearly a decade in communications and change management leadership roles at Suncor Energy, and global communications at Talisman Energy (now Repsol Canada.)
Ms. Crowell is a passionate advocate for mentoring and education. She has volunteered and served on the Boards of several community organizations including Inside Education, Immigrant Services Calgary, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Calgary and Area, and the Making Changes Association. She has mentored many newcomers to Canada and has hired more than 50 co-op students and interns during her career.
Ms. Crowell holds a Bachelor of Public Relations from Mount Saint Vincent University, along with certificates in adult education from Mount Royal University and change management from Prosci.
