Nearly 30 students will enjoy a fun summer of learning
A partnership between NAIT and WBM Technologies will ensure nearly 30 Edmonton kids enjoy a fun summer of learning.
WBM, a progressive information technology (IT) solutions company with offices across Western Canada, sponsored NAIT’s summer camp program as part of a larger $25,000 donation to the polytechnic. The gift opens doors for Edmonton kids who otherwise might not be able to attend camps and learn about IT-related skills.
“It’s a great opportunity for the kids and for us to introduce them to NAIT and the polytechnic world,” says Carole Holt, recreation manager with Student Well-being and Community.
WBM donated $15,000 over five years to support camps focused on 3D computer-aided drafting, computer game design and web design. Youth participants will be identified through the Mennonite Centre for Newcomers.
“We wouldn’t have had the opportunity to offer these programs without this support,” Holt says.
“It’s an immensely gratifying experience to get involved in a program like this that does a lot of good for some truly amazing kids.”
Matthew Munro, an account manager with WBM, says they are excited with their five-year commitment to NAIT. The company frequently works with like-minded community organizations through scholarships and other partnerships.

In addition to the camps, WBM gave $10,000 for scholarships for students in the Bachelor of Applied Information Systems Technology program. Munro says the gift is about creating opportunity for younger generations.
“Scholarships are an extension of that and have an impact on essentially what is our future. Helping to make opportunities more accessible for students is a meaningful contribution we can all be proud of.”
