Working together to find solutions and help one another
It has been a challenging time for everyone in our community as a result of COVID-19. But the pandemic has also given us an opportunity to be innovative and to support each other. NAIT has a history of working together with industry, alumni and friends like you to find solutions and help one another.
Since the pandemic began, I have seen many examples of how we have come together to provide support to our students and our greater community. From donating to the foodbank to lending ventilators used in our classrooms to Alberta Health Services – we are doing what we can to support our community during this crisis.
Our students are also continuing to learn. Thanks to so many people across NAIT, within a matter of days we moved as many classes as we could to online delivery. We know there will continue to be challenges ahead but we know the relevant and responsive education we provide will help our province to recover from COVID-19.
I want to thank you for the support you have given to NAIT. You are helping to ensure our students can continue their learning, you are helping industry to become more innovative through applied research and so much more.
Partners have always been important to NAIT, but they play an even greater role now as we work to find solutions together and to navigate how we operate in the new normal we are facing.
I am pleased to advise you Laura Jo Gunter has been appointed NAIT’s seventh president and CEO. She is nationally respected as a leader in the post-secondary and private sectors, and as an entrepreneur. Originally from Ontario, she comes to NAIT after serving three years as president and CEO of Bow Valley College in Calgary. We look forward to welcoming her when she starts August 24, 2020.
I want to close by providing my profound thanks to all of you who have supported our polytechnic. We appreciate it so much.
I hope you stay safe and healthy.
